EVERYTHING'S COMING UP PUMPKIN!

Hey Folks,

Happy Fall to you! I had been feeling in the fall spirit so we invited AB and TM over for some fall fun on Saturday. JJ cooked pasta for dinner and then we all headed out to buy pumpkins to carve. I wanted to do a throwback to the old school and welcome fall with this activity. I'm not big on the ghoulish aspect of Halloween at all, so I decided to make it fun and positive instead.

Also, if the kids come ringin' the bell on Halloween night, they will be getting little baggies of vegan chocolate covered raisins. I was just going to do raisins, but figured I'd jazz it up just a bit. Anyway, AB and I ended up being the only ones to carve. Actually cutting the top off and digging out the guts was a little more cumbersome than I remember, but once that was done, making the face was a breeze.

Afterwards, I helped AB make her famous pumpkin chocolate chip muffins. They are the BOMB! I'll be getting the recipe to make these again for Thanksgiving when JJ's folks come to town. All in all it was great fun. I believe anything is what you make it. I will not be hanging skeletons or dressing like the grim reeper or having a scary movie marathon (don't like scary movies at all). Although, I guess we have to clarify scary because JJ has a copy of a movie called Hercules in NY starring Arnold Schwarzenegger from back in the day and we watched a bit of that and it's scary enough to send Freddie screaming into the night. Scary as in AWFUL that is!! Anyway, I digress, I will be putting a positive spin on things is the point I'm trying to make.

Anyway, here are some pics of the pumpkin evening for your viewing pleasure!!

I don't remember it being this gross....

Hey every body! Those pumpkin cupcakes make my mouth salivate just looking at them! When I finish with my last exam I will be sending you the recipe for, what I call, PMS chocolate cake. You could also add the gadget of "blog followers" to your site, because I follow your blog. It's encouraging to see other black folks who are vegan. Mostly, all the friends I have are grand meat eaters. Once they learn that I'm vegan, in their minds I can't eat "anything". It's so funny. They can embrace vegetarian, but vegan is just hard for them to wrap their minds around. Anyway, when I was in Atlanta for a board exam, I went to this wonderful restaurant, LOV'N IT LIVE. At LOV'N IT LIVE you will be served organic, yes organic raw vegan food without any soy products. It was wonderful. I had the sampler that had stuffed avocado, taco salad with homemade pine nut cheese, sandwich, portobello like appetizer that looked like fried veggie wedges {but it was totally raw} and Kayle salad. Everything tasted so good!@!#! Even the bread was raw; it was soo good. You just forgot that it was raw. I could eat like that for life. They even offer classes on Mondays to teach you how to prepare raw vegan foods. What's funny is that a lot of meat eaters go there regularly to eat; that's how good their food is. It doesn't taste like meat...but the flavors aren't so different that you have to develop an acquired taste to enjoy; you just enjoy it. It was really refreshing and I needed it. I could not have gotten through my 8 hour exam, an exam which you are on your feet for 8 hours in business attire (and low heeled professional looking shoes; nevertheless HEELS}. Kudos to LOV'N IT LIVE at 2796 East Point St. East Point, GA 3344. Call them regarding their hours of operation: 404-765-9220. http://lovingitlive.com.
